To those of you puzzled by  'Guido'.   It  is a private joke.  I am really Dove, or is it Roony, or is it Vonda,
or is it Ineen Dubh?  I forget.  ;-)
Vonda,
I thought you should know there is a serious historical error on your website at http://www.irishstoryteller.com/boru.html At the bottom of this page you list the Rock of Cashel as being the place that Brian Boru was crowned Ard Ri, High King, in 1002. This is incorrect. He was crowned King of Munster here and it was much earlier in 984. In 999 he went to battle with the King of Ireland where it was agreed to split the country. Brian would rule the south and Malachy the north. The dividing line was Meath. It was 1002 that Brian Boru returned to Meath to battle for the supremecy of all Ireland. There was no battle as the northern kingdom was handed over without bloodshed. Brian was crowned High King in 1002 at Tara, Co Meath. You also suggest that O'Brien Tower in Co Clare as being the original home of Brian Boru. This is also incorrect. O'Brien Tower was built in Victorian times as a tea room for visiting tourists to the Cliffs of Moher where it sits high on a hill overlooking the famous cliffs. It was names O'Brien's Tower out of deference to the O'Brien's who once ruled Clare, and Brian himself who once ruled Munster, which Clare is part of. Brian was born in a place called Borumha, which is where he got the name Brian Boru. Back then there were no such things as surnames. A person was named for the place he came from or of being born of his father... Brian of Borumha and Brian mac Cenntig (Cenntig being his father) were both names that Brian went by.  Anyway, I hope this helps in the correctness of your website. I believe that if the information is going to be made available that it should be correct. There is so much misinformation on the internet today that it's sometimes hard to tell what's right and wrong. I hope this helps.
Kemberlee.  Greetings from Macroom, near the battle scene where Brian won the King of Munster.
Thanks Kemberlee,  Greetings to you in beautiful Macroom.  I'll make the corrections very soon.  Some of this I did know, but didn't make it at all clear.-- Vonda/Dove

Comments: I am doing some research into the life of Red Hugh O'Donnell (1572-1602) and came across your site quite by accident. It is beautifully presented. Your write up on The O'Donnell was very interesting and more historically accurate than you'd find on most other websites. I especially liked the illustrations since no contemporary likeness of Red Hugh has survived. The Nine Years War is, of course, very topical in Ireland at the moment as this year marks the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Kinsale. 2002, consequently, will be the equivalent anniversary of O'Donnell's assassination by an English agent in Spain aon nós caithfidh mé a rá arís go bhfuil an 'website' sea go hiontach ar fad.Le gach dea ghuí-Aisling
